ICELAND: DRIVING ALONG THE COAST
Driving on the coast was wonderful. The scenery changed dramatically every few kilometers, from moss covered lava, to barren black sands, to lush mountains. I found myself pulling over constantly to sit and take it in and snap pictures!
Looks like a moonscape!

Lupinas:
Lupinas are everywhere in Iceland. I thought they looked very similar the bluebonnets I've seen in Texas, and when I came home I found that the proper name for bluebonnets are Lupinus Texensis. Apparently they came from Alaska to Iceland in an attempt to vegetate the country. Overgrazing of sheep and volcanic flow had contributed to the desertification of the country and in the early 1900's the government began an attempt to curb the erosion by planting trees and other plants.
No, the car was not in motion, Dad! : )
Wow.
