ICELAND: SKOGAR and THE BLUE LAGOON
Skogar:
Skogar is on the coast and absolutely beautiful. Tiny waterfalls stream from the mountains behind the farmhouses. I stopped for a delicious lamb lunch at Hotel Skogar after a visit to the Skogafasn (the Skogar Folk Museum).
Odd things at the Skogar Museum:
Skogar Museum farmhouse:
These turf farmhouses date from 1830's to 1890's. They are built with basaltic rocks and driftwood. I nearly hit my head on the beams!
Skogar Church:
Blue Lagoon:
After I drove all over South Iceland taking in the stunning environments, I visited the Blue Lagoon, a natural geothermal pool. I had a silica mud mask and there was a was a steam room carved out of a lava cave; it was so soothing!
